  9. What is NVmax?
  10. --------------
  11.  
  12. NVmax is a tweaking program for maximizing NVIDIA video
  13. card performance, quality and reliability. Featuring a
  14. unique and user friendly interface, NVmax allows you to
  15. effortlessly control all video and related features in 
  16. just a few clicks. Features an array of functions, such
  17. as advanced preset control,'real-time' overclocking, AGP
  18. settings and color control.

  20. NVmax does not need to be running to set functions as it
  21. works alongside the NVIDIA drivers and uses the registry
  22. to save settings. However, you can run NVmax in the
  23. system tray for quick access at a minimal memory resource
  24. usage.

  27. Requirements
  28. ------------

  30. NVmax is fully compatible with: Windows 95, 98, 98SE,
  31. Millennium, 2000 and XP.

  33. To use all features you will require Detonator 6.47
  34. drivers or later. NVmax is backward compatible with 5.xx,
  35. 3.xx. We do not recommend using NVmax with 2.xx drivers 
  36. or earlier.

  39. Device Detection
  40. ----------------

  42. NVmax uses a complex procedure to detect all NVIDIA
  43. compatible cards with a vendor ID of 10. If NVmax does
  44. not display your card, and you are using Detonator or
  45. compatible drivers please contact support and we will work
  46. to provide a prompt solution for you and other users.

  49. Overclocking
  50. ------------

  52. NVmax features full overclocking support.
  53.  
  54. Warning: NVmax allows much higher speeds then possible
  55. for your hardware to run at. If you set the speed too
  56. high then you run the risk of overheating your card and
  57. damaging it. Please only use this feature if you know 
  58. what you are doing.

  61. If at anytime the speed reported is inaccurate you may
  62. wish to disable any other NVIDIA tweakers, which can
  63. cause problems. To solve the problem disable overclocking
  64. in NVmax and restart the computer.

  67. AGP Advanced functions
  68. ----------------------
  69.  
  70. Fastwrites may cause your system to be unbootable, and/or
  71. garble the screen on bootup. If this happens, run NVmax
  72. in safemode and use the restore settings feature.
  73.  
  74. NVmax only enables the agp speed in the drivers
  75. and does not set the actual speed. You may need to use
  76. NVmax alongside the function in your motherboard bios and
  77. motherboard AGP gart drivers if available. Some video
  78. card bios have features disabled for compatibility. Use
  79. our forum to get more information or see your hardware
  80. vendor for details on whether your hardware supports 
  81. these functions.

  84. Help & Safety

  87. Installation automatically backups up your settings
  88. when you save NVmax. Read all information provided by
  89. NVmax carefully. A feature is provided to
  90. restore to default settings. This option is also
  91. accessable in safemode.
